How to make a Backplate for your GPU step by step

From Nfortec and from the hand of Torotocho we bring you a tutorial on how to make a backplate for your GPU step by step. The backplate can be made by hand or by machine but the important thing is that we get to have a pc as customized as possible so that it does not look like any other and our friends are impressed by our mastery of hardware and modding. Will you join us?

How to prepare the backplate for customization

The backplate we are going to choose to machine cut the methacrylate. We could do it by hand, but it would take a long time and we would not get the same level of detail. We must measure the length and width of the graphics card. We will cut two pieces, one black and one transparent. The black one has to have the same size as the graphics card, and the transparent one will have a few centimeters less, which will be the size of the LED strip we are going to place. We recommend using a 4 mm strip

Create a backplate to your liking

We are not going to touch the transparent part. The part we will work on is the black one, on which we will have to make all the shape of the mosaic we want to create. Then we will sand the backplate to make it straight. We can paint it (it is optional) to cover some small defects that we have not been able to achieve. The next step is to apply a blowtorch on the edges of the methacrylate (in the profile) to get a better sanding and to make the RGB shine more. We must not abuse this heat application (if it becomes transparent we will stop).

LED lighting is power

To glue it we can use superglue, but it leaves quite a trace. The best for gluing methacrylate is chloroform. You glue everything delicately to leave the smallest possible trace and it would already be mounted. It is necessary to leave space for the LED strip. Keep in mind that we are going to place the LED strip vertically. To put the strip we can put it facing outward and then put white vinyl to cover all the edges except the outside. The second option is to put the strip upside down so that the light hits exactly the methacrylate profile. In this way we will gain more light and we will have to put black methacrylate. The third option is to put the strip in profile to achieve the greatest possible volume of light

Some details for the final touch

On the inside it is not illuminated as much as possible. This is because we have not yet made any holes in the transparent part. When we want to have RGB in an area we will have to apply this procedure

The custom backplate is a way to give a personal touch to the graphics card and can be applied to any part of your PC: the motherboard, the gaming case... The more customization, the more different your PC will be. We hope you found our step-by-step tutorial on how to make a backplate for your GPU useful
