How to play with a Gaming PC and a projector

Summer is coming and it is likely that many of us are roasting hot in our homes, and with it also our pc gaming. And nothing is more appealing in summer than a good movie on a big screen or a good ice cream... or is it? Imagine being able to play with your powerful gaming computer on a bigger screen than you might think. From Nfortec we test how to play with a gaming PC and a projector and we help you to liven up those summer evenings with your friends. Do you dare to give your games a spin?

First steps and configuration

It is advisable to use a small or mini box in case we are going to play with a projector, since it is likely that in our house we do not have a space big enough to play comfortably. Setting up the projector is a very simple process, there are some models that have an automatic part that allows you to move the projector at will. The gaming experience is very satisfying with such a large screen

All that glitters is not gold

The main problem is that the response of a projector is not the same as that of a monitor. The monitor is characterized by real time, by giving us the same movement that we command the controller. The projector however can have an input lag or latency of 125 milliseconds, which is not a very optimal feature for playing video games on a computer. You will be able to play games, but you won't have the same experience as on a monitor

It has a 1080 mode at 120 hertz, but we should not confuse these hertz with reduced latency. But those 120 hertz are not real, because it does not maintain the same fluidity. It is as if we were playing at 30 hertz real

Other portable alternatives

If we choose not to play on a projector, we can opt for a portable monitor, which will allow us to play at 60 hertz with a much higher response time. Perhaps investing in a monitor, which will not be a small investment, if it is only for gaming on your PC, is not the best option. If you finally decide to play with a gaming PC and a projector, we recommend you not to invest more than 200 euros, since a monitor will always give a better performance. The disadvantage of playing with a monitor is that we will not have that desired portability that allows us to play games with our friends anywhere

If we use a mini PC we must take into account that the temperature of the equipment will be higher, since it will not have the same volume of airflow as a standard size case. The number of components is the same but the space is smaller. Depending on the distribution of the components, it is difficult to maintain a good airflow and keep the case properly cooled

We hope you found our tips on how to play with a gaming PC and a projector useful and that it is a good alternative for those long summer evenings and that you can enjoy with your friends your favorite video games anywhere
