Differences between RGB and ARGB technology

Improvements in technology are becoming more and more frequent, and in Nfortec we try to be always up to date, to offer you the best and maximum performance in our components. The leap to A-RGB took place some time ago, but do you know what it is? What improvements or advantages does it offer compared to RGB? Is one better than the other? We explain everything in this guide

When we talk about RGB and A-RGB, we refer to the technology that directly affects the lighting of our components with this option. In the case of peripherals and components designed mainly, lighting is practically mandatory, even if it is more for decoration than for functionality

In our catalog in our component catalog, you can find a lot of items with lighting: heatsinks, liquid coolers, power supplies and, of course, our towers. Little by little, we have been updating them all from RGB to offer you the best A-RGB, so you can synchronize all your installed components

RGB Technology

We all know what RGB Led lighting consists of: a strip of lights that can be modified, but all showing the same color at the same time. Normally, these lights can be found in the fans of gaming towers, and controlled by a selection button on the front of these or even with a remote control, if you have a controller that includes it

You can even install a controller if your tower does not have one, and connect up to 6 12V RGB fans, this is important, to illuminate your gaming case in your favorite color.

A-RGB technology

On the other hand, we have the A-RGB (Adressable RGB) technology, also known as D-RGB (addressable), which is LED lighting but individually configurable. Each LED can display independent colors, with which we can make more interesting effects on our equipment. As a general rule, the towers with 5V ARGB fans, which are connected via 3-pin cables, usually bring various preconfigured lighting modes, but also allow customization via software or the mythical front selection button on the tower itself, which sometimes is the Reset, we must simply configure the wiring to change its function

Connections

When making component connections with RGB or A-RGB, you should know that they do not have the same connectors. Both will be connected to the board, directly or through the controller, but the RGB connector will be 4-pin, 12 V, and the ARGB connector will be 3-pin and 5 V. If you are not sure what type of components you are installing, just look at the number of wires coming out of the connector and it should be clear: if 3 wires come out, it will be ARGB, if 4, RGB. It is simpler than it seems, when you get these little details

So, RGB or A-RGB?

controladora ARGB

It is becoming more and more common to find components and PC towers with A-RGB lighting, because it allows more customization, and in the end, those who are looking for lighting in their components, prefer to have more configuration options. RGB is still on the market, but it is likely to be upgraded to ARGB technology, which also allows all components with this lighting to be synchronized and controlled at the same time.

Making the leap to A-RGB

If your tower has fans with RGB lighting, and you would like to be able to install A-RGB fans to synchronize them with the rest of your components, don't worry, it is possible. The only downside is that you would have to change all the fans if you want them to match, and we recommend installing a controller to make things even more convenient. On our website you will find the velorum packwhich comes with three great ARGB fans and a compatible controller to make upgrading your lighting a breeze

On the other hand, you will also find the controllers individually, without additional fans, in case you have a tower with any of these technologies, but do not have the convenient controller with controller, and you would like to add it

Dare to enjoy the best lighting, and customize it to the maximum, with the options we offer from Nfortec. Virtually our entire catalog already has great A-RGB technology, so that all your components are compatible and configurable with each other
