A short introduction

Before explaining directly how to do this, we are going to make a small introduction for those who do not know very well what we are talking about or for those who want to refresh information that never hurts.

Cooling is a fundamental aspect of the composition of our equipment and, in addition to the correct functioning of our components, we will be able to extend their useful life and avoid serious damage to the operation of the PC.

The cooling, whether liquid or air, is accompanied by fans to cool the radiators or heatsink and these can be controlled through the BIOS or automatically through a controller. In Nfortec we have many towers and we can control the speed of them in several ways. To make the examples clearer we are going to see them directly on our towers and how to act in each case.

Draco V2

There are many of you who write to us asking about how to control the revolutions in your tower Nfortec Draco V2. Here I have some news to give you that may make you a bit sad. Draco V2 fans and the integrated controller do not have the necessary technology to perform the fan speed control function.

Draco V2 fans are connected to the controller and this to the power supply, as you can see in the video below. Once we have them connected the fans will work as usual giving us their best performance. The lighting can still be controlled without any problem both from the remote control and from the LED button on the front of the tower.

Nfortec Krater

The next case we can find is that of the tower Kraterlike other models of Nfortec, this one has a controller with integrated PWM technology. This means that once the installation of the controller and the PWM connector to the motherboard is done, we will be able to enjoy this feature automatically.

It is important to emphasize that we can not modify the RPM of the fans through the BIOS as it will be done automatically and if we go to the BIOS to check what speed they go or use external software to see it, we will find that the indicator will appear at zero but this does not scare you because although the revolutions at which the fans are spinning do not appear, the controller is performing its function and the fans will be adjusted to the needs of our team.

Control through the BIOS

In our towers, the aforementioned Krater, or Caronte PRO, Antares y Vega we will have at our disposal the PWM technology mentioned above. If we connect the fan connector, important, of those fans that have the PWM connector, directly to the motherboard, we will be able to modify the speed manually from the BIOS.

To enter the BIOS you only have to press the corresponding button during the power up of the PC, usually F9, F10 or F11 depending on the manufacturer of your motherboard. Once we enter the Setup menu we will have to locate the fan options. This type of interfaces are quite intuitive and will clearly detail the options that we can perform from our BIOS. Everything marked as FAN, CPU_Speed Fan, FAN Control, everything related to ventilation will be marked with the word FAN somewhere.

On current motherboards we can already set a maximum number of revolutions at which our fan will work, forcing them to a higher number of revolutions or, on the contrary, reducing their number.

It is important to keep in mind that this configuration will be saved even if you turn off or restart your computer, so if you want to return to the initial configuration you will have to select it from the BIOS itself.

Through external applications

We will also have this possibility at our fingertips, downloading an external software specifically for this task we can modify the revolutions without having to access the BIOS.
